Start with what is actually established

Inhance Technologies announced Prakash Iyer’s CEO appointment in October 2024. [1] EPA’s archive marks its December 2023 orders against the company as vacated in March 2024. [2] These are examples of limited, checkable statements. They should not be enlarged into claims about a person’s intent or the final state of every related dispute.

Record the document’s job

Our proposed checklist gives every document a role: announcement, assessment, legal decision, response or commentary. Before drawing a conclusion, write down which question that role can answer. A source can be authentic and still be the wrong source for a particular claim. This simple step helps keep a company’s own account distinct from an independent finding.

Record what changed

Inhance Technologies published a regulatory update in January 2025 setting out its view of the Section 6 process. [7] When comparing documents, we would ask whether the newer text changes an operative requirement, adds evidence, explains a position or merely repeats an earlier statement. Those possibilities should not be collapsed into a generic claim that the case has changed.

Leave questions visibly open

If a document does not establish who made a particular decision, say that the reviewed material does not establish it. If an answer depends on an unavailable test or later filing, identify that dependency. A question mark in a headline should not be used to insinuate an answer that the text cannot support. Scrutiny gains value when uncertainty is described accurately.

Publish a trail others can challenge

We would expect an accountable article to offer source links, dates, a clear distinction between reporting and opinion, and a way to identify corrections. This checklist is an independent editorial proposal. It is not a claim that we reviewed a complete live docket or obtained confidential material. The portrait-and-files cover is an AI illustration, not evidence. Its most useful message is the instruction in the headline: follow the documents and test the reasoning.
